The game of Craps. Simple Guide to Craps.
One of the most difficult board games that can be found in a casino environment is the game of Craps. The difficulty comes from understanding the placement and terms of each bet that is placed. A novice can approach a game of Craps, and be guided by other players movements to make the required opening bet, but after that, the game takes on a active concept that can be positively mind boggling at times.
In the game of Craps, players have the option of betting with or against the numbers that show up on the dice. There will be a designated thrower on the table, and this player will change as dice are rolled, and the numbers of 7 on the combined total of the dice cause the player to “Crap Out”. Each player in Craps is afforded the opportunity to throw the dice, but it is not a requirement. You can pass your turn on to the player next to you at the Craps table.
The player will wager money on the outcome of two dice, that are thrown from one end of the Craps table to the other. One requirement in playing Craps, is that both dice must hit the backboard at the other end of the gaming table. These two dice numerals are together to determine the final number used in paying wagers.
There are a number of ways a player can bet during a Craps game. There are player bets, line bets, and single roll and multi-roll bets. The player bets are generally included under line bets, that are based on the Pass line, or Don’t Pass Line areas. The player uses the Pass Line to say with his bet, that they think the first number to be rolled out will total 7 or 11. If this does not occur, then the bet is lost.
The Don’t Pass Line is where the player is betting that 7 or 11 will not be rolled. There are various number possibilities that can be derived from the number that is rolled. Long-standing Craps players will typically avoid betting on the Don’t Pass line because this type of betting goes against the grain of how the game was originally designed to be played. Learning to play Craps takes time and patience and a lot of study and thought.
The momentum of Craps can be very exciting if a player has rolled out a number, and then consistently continues to roll that number through several rolls of the dice. Money can be doubled and tripled rapidly, and people are very superstitious when they are playing Craps. Some people will not play the game of Craps if there is a female on the gaming table. Other people bring lucky pieces with them when they play, and others believe that a kiss on the dice by their girlfriends will bring them good luck.
