Contest and Sweepstakes Rules
Just as there are number rules that must be followed to participate in lotteries, there are certain requirements that must be used by people who enter Contests and Sweepstakes. Most of the Contest and Sweepstakes rules are clearly identified on the entry form that people will fill out during the period of time that the promotion or contest is advertised.
Other Contest and Sweepstakes rules can be found on the manufacturers website. The manufacturer wants people to visit the website so that they can learn about all of the marvelous products that the manufacturer is introducing to consumers during that year. The Contest and Sweepstakes Rules might state in black and white, that the Contest and Sweepstakes promotion is strictly for children to participate in.
The Contest and Sweepstakes Rules might also tell adult participants that only one entry is allowed. Those that are found to have entered several times, are then considered to have violated the Contest and Sweepstakes Rules, and their multiple entries will be deleted, or not considered valid if they are ultimately chosen.
Many of the Contest and Sweepstakes Rules bear the burden of taxes and shipping on the back of the winner. After all is said and done, the Contest and Sweepstakes entry may cost the entry winner more than the product that they won is worth, and many contest winners will decline their winnings to protect their families from going into debt.
There are some Contest and Sweepstakes Rules that give people proof that they did win. The Contest and Sweepstakes Rules will say that the winner will be notified by the fastest possible means possible, and the winner might have just finished reading all of the Contest and Sweepstakes Rules again, when there is a ring of the doorbell, and there prize is waiting for them at their front door.
The Contest and Sweepstakes Rules may also use email notifications to tell the winner that they won a prize. But since there are many scam artists in the world, that notification method is under further review. Seems scam artists will send fake winning announcements out, in the hopes that people will tell them their bank accounts where the large deposits of money can be placed.
Most Contest and Sweepstakes Rules contain clauses that offer the winner some identity protection. The winner has to notify them in writing if they do not want their name or their winning prize to be released to the newspaper and radio medias. People feel better about participating in Contest and Sweepstakes promotions because of this clause, and will routinely enter many promotions and contests throughout the year.
