Charitable Gambling

There are large scale and small scale gambling events scheduled throughout the year, that will benefit charities such as the American Cancer Society, Aids Research and Prevention, Habitat for Humanity, Disaster Relief and the American Red Cross, and numerous others. Many of these charitable events involve gambling in the form of tournaments such as games of blackjack or poker, and the participants are celebrities that offer they time to earn money for a worthy cause.

Celebrities start the tournaments by selecting a charity that will benefit from their winnings. The atmosphere at these tournaments is jovial and relaxed and typically there is a lot of camaraderie among the players. They are there to do their very best for their favorite charity, and some of these players will not know very much about the game they are playing.

Many times, the celebrity will make their own charitable contribution beforehand. Throughout each level of tournament play, there will be various tables, set at odd angles throughout the room, and there will be a viewing area set aside, where tourists can stand and watch the proceedings. Each table winner will receive a chip that they can trade in to play at the final game table. Everyone is lighthearted and having a good time, because it is all being done for such a good cause.

As the winner of each tournament play advances, the groups of tables being played will become smaller, and reach a point to where there will be only one table filled with people who have cashed in their token. These people will be the winners of each segment of the tournament play. This tracked standing matrix is quite similar to college playoff alignments for a conference title.

The tournament play may be over several days at times, and during times when there is a lull and no games in progress, there are generally parties and festivities held that will further benefit other charities, and give celebrities time to mingle and spread the word about causes that they think are important, such as global warming.

The charitable gambling event will end eventually, with two winners, but only one of them benefits financially from the money that was raised throughout this charitable gambling event. The celebrity that won the tournaments gets bragging rights for another year, and the charity of their choice, or a pre-defined charity in some cases, will receive quite possibly millions of dollars.
