Wireless technology has enormous advantages as it keeps you connected all the time and everywhere on the globe. But sometimes this technology may hamper other person’s interest. For example if you set up a wireless network at your home, then there are large possibilities that it will interface in your neighbor’s wireless arena. This is not the only problem with wireless networks. These radio waves which are being used by the wireless networks are also harmful if they are directly given to your heart. Thus you must take suitable precautions while using wireless network and devices.
The problem of wireless interfacing is a common one. This happens when the user tend to shift in the zone where another wireless network is set up in a very narrow gap from the user’s frequency range. This can lead to severe miscalculations. Your handset may start behaving improperly or your calls get noise in them. There are also possibilities that you may call someone else with slightly equal frequency. Thus interfacing is the most common wireless problem that needs trouble shooting. This will not happen permanently till we discover the solution to the bandwidth problem that the wireless world is facing today. There is so limited frequency and so many users.
Many new technologies have been developed to solve this problem. They are:
FDMA: this is frequency division multiplexing which allows the frequency band to be divided into large number of bands. The user can communicate if it finds a free band, else it will have to wait till any of the band becomes free and then he or she can go ahead. But this technology proved insufficient in tacking large number of users.
TDMA: this refers to time division multiplexing. Here FDMA is the base, but further each frequency band has been divided into 8 time slots, thus one band can handle 8 users simultaneously. This technique solved the problem to some extent, but still was unsatisfactory in dense wireless mobile areas.
CDMA: this is known as the code division multiplexing. This technique is being used in the third generation of wireless technology. Here we do not divide the frequency into bands. Here we allow users to get access to the total bandwidth with the help of a special number. This technique has more or less proved satisfactory till date to solve the bandwidth problem.
